The minimum wage in Illinois could go up thanks to new legislation.
The Illinois Senate is expected to vote on a bill Wednesday that would raise the minimum wage from $8.25 an hour to $10 an hour.
Those who oppose the bill say it would increase unemployment insurance rates and social security taxes. Illinois is one of 18 states with wages higher than $7.25 an hour, the national average.
The rate last increased in 2010.
