Police said a man was checking out at the Hyatt Regency Hotel when a gun fell out of his pocket and discharged.

Police are searching for a suspect after three people were wounded in a shooting Friday morning inside the lobby of a downtown Chicago hotel, authorities said.

The 24-year-old man was checking out at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the 150 block of East Wacker Drive, police said, when a gun fell out of his pocket and discharged.

The gun hit the tile, police said, and three people nearby were struck with fragments of the bullet.

The man fled the hotel, police said. His identity has not been released, but police said he is from Chicago's south suburbs.

Two women suffered graze wounds to their legs and were expected to be OK. They were being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where their conditions were not known.

Police said the man was not in custody Friday morning.
