Head of Chicago Catholic Charities Stepping Down

Monsignor Michael Boland's resignation is effective Aug. 16, NBC 5 has learned

Monsignor Michael Boland is stepping down as head of Catholic Charities, NBC 5 has learned. 

Boland has lead the organization for nearly 30 years. Last year, Catholic Charities celebrated its 100th year. It operates more than 150 programs throughout Cook and Lake counties, assisting one million people. It is the social service arm of the Chicago Archdiocese. 

Boland’s resignation is effective Aug. 16, NBC 5 has learned.

Cardinal Cupich has asked Kathleen Donahue to serve as acting administrator.
