Harrelson Still Talking Trash About Cubs Even in His Final Season

Harrelson has called Wrigley Field "a joke" and has vowed to never set foot inside the park

Although Chicago White Sox broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson has vowed to never again set foot inside of Wrigley Field, he’s still talking trash about the Chicago Cubs.

Speaking to a White Sox ticket holder as part of a marketing push, Harrelson praised the team’s rebuilding efforts, and said he’s looking forward to playing the Cubs in the next few seasons.

Except he said it a bit more colorfully than that.

“It’s going to be fun to watch us play the Cubs and kick their ass,” Harrelson said.

The White Sox broadcaster, who is retiring at the end of the season, will call a limited schedule this year, but the team will play six games against the North Siders, including three at Guaranteed Rate Field.

“The Cubs are good, and they’re not going anywhere for a while,” Harrelson told NBC Sports Chicago. “I told Tom Ricketts it’s going to be fun playing them for a few years. They did it right.”

Harrelson has been sharpening his criticisms of the Cubs in recent years, calling for Wrigley Field to be replaced and calling the historic ballpark “a joke.” He also announced that he will never set foot inside the ballpark again, saying that he will only call Cubs-Sox games on the South Side.
