Four Suburban Teenagers Killed in Head-on Collision

Alcohol and drugs appear to be factors in the crash

Four teens were killed early Saturday in a head-on collision in Kane County

The police investigation showed alcohol and drugs appeared to be factors in the fiery crash, said Lt. Pat Gengler, a spokesman for the Kane County Sheriff's Department

Just before 1 a.m., Marco Leon, 19, of Elgin, was reportedly on his way home from a job that helped pay for his college tuition when he was hit by a car driven by Eric Silva, 18, of Streamwood.

Authorities believe Silva was speeding when his 2003 Grand Am crossed the center line and slammed into Leon's 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, police said.  They say Leon was killed instantly. Silva was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downer's Grove where he was pronounced dead.

"He was really a good person," Silva's sister Sammie said. "He was the best brother you ever wanted."

Two 19-year-old passengers in Silva's car, Christian Miguel Gody-Olivea  and Andres Solis, both of Streamwood, were also killed.

Police believe the three teens in Silva's car may have been at a nearby party.  Officials are awaiting toxicology reports.
