UPDATE: Dog OK, May be Available for Adoption

Authorities on Monday afternoon captured a dog that was running loose on the Kennedy Expressway.

The animal, with an apparently injured hind leg, darted around vehicles on the Interstate near West Diversey Avenue.

An official ultimately was able to lasso the dog at about 3 p.m.

From NBC Chicago's helicopter, authorities could be seen offering water to the dog.

The animal was taken to Chicago Animal Care & Control, at 2741 S. Western Ave., for an examination.

Nearly three years ago, another dog loose on the Eisenhower Expressway added drama to an April morning commute.
