A man was hospitalized after he jumped in front a train late Saturday morning at the 47th Street Red Line station, according to Chicago police, causing trains between Sox-35th and 63rd to be temporarily suspended as of Saturday afternoon.
Around 11:20 a.m., the man was hit by a train at the station located at 220 W. 47th St., officials said.
Authorities said he was immediately transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Officials originally tweeted saying it was "due to a medical emergency on tracks."
According to the transit site, trains were operating between Howard and Sox-35th and between 53rd and 95th.
Shuttle buses were available and other service alternatives such as nearby bus routes, or using buses to other rail lines, were also said to be considered, CTA stated. “These may include: #22 Clark and #29 State buses, as well as Green Line trains.”

CTA warned travelers to allow for extra travel time, meanwhile, they say they are working to restore service as quickly as they can.
