CTA Red Line Service Resumes on North Side After Person Struck, Killed by Train

CTA Red Line service has resumed between Howard and Addison after a person was struck and killed by a northbound train, authorities say.

According to the CTA, power was shut down for several hours between the two stations in both directions during an investigation into the incident.

The agency says that service has resumed, but trains will not stop at the Bryn Mawr station as police continue their investigation.

According to the Chicago Police Department, a person jumped onto the tracks at approximately 1:30 p.m. and was struck by a train. Police are investigating the case as a suicide, but not definitive cause of death ruling has been issued at this time.
