Five people were injured in a serious crash on the Chicago's far southwest side early Tuesday morning.
The victims -- all female -- were transported to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and Mount Sinai Medical Center following the crash at West Pershing Road and South Kedzie Avenue.
At least a dozen paramedics were seen working on the car after it crashed into a light pole. Crews used a Jaws of Life-type tool to remove the roof of the car in an effort to get to those trapped inside.
A 24-year-old, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old were all transported to Stroger Hospital. A 19-year-old and a 2-year-old were transported to Mt. Sinai.
All were listed in serious to critical condition.
The crash closed Kedzie Avenue between 39th and 40th streets.
