A "grenade-like object" found Friday morning in a building being rehabbed on Chicago's South Side has been deemed a dud, police said.
The Bomb and Arson Unit was called to the scene in the 2100 block of East 71st Street in the city's South Shore neighborhood to investigate the object.
Police said the item was found by someone rehabbing a building.
Traffic was temporarily rerouted and blocked off in the area.
The scene was cleared before 10 a.m.
