A Chicagoan was among five members of computer hacking groups arrested Monday and facing charges in New York.
Jeremy Hammond, 27, -- aka “Anarchaos,” aka “sup_g,” aka “burn,” aka “yohoho,” aka “POW,” aka “tylerknowsthis,” aka “crediblethreat,” was arrested along with four others associated with the group LulzSec and Anonymous.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office in New York, Hammond identified himself as a member of AntiSec. He was charged in a criminal complaint with crimes relating to the December 2011 hack of Strategic Forecasting Inc. in Austin, Texas, which may have affected approximately 860,000 victims.
The Chicago Tribune reported the FBI raided a Bridgeport home Monday on the 2900 block of South Quinn in connection with the group.
Hammond was charged with one count of computer hacking conspiracy, one count of computer hacking and one count of conspiracy to commit access device fraud. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The others arrested for computer hacking and other crimes identified themselves with the group Anonymous as well as offshoot groups “Internet Feds,” “LulzSec” and “AntiSec.”
