Chicago Weather: When Will Unseasonable Cold End?

Chicago broke multiple winter weather records in the past few days, including three for cold temperatures. So when will the deep freeze thaw? In short, keep bundling up for now.

Wednesday began still bitter but slightly better than the day before. Windy and cold, highs were in the mid to upper 20s for Tuesday as skies become more overcast and light snow develops, largely in the northern portion of the region.

Temperatures will dip back into the teens inland, mid 20s in the city and northwest Indiana.

Clouds depart for sunshine early Thursday, which looks to be not quite so cold with highs between 30 and 34 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will still be cold for the season with highs in the mid 30s.

Sunday looks a bit warmer with highs in the upper 30s to 40 degrees, still chilly but temperatures slowly creeping back up.

The work week starts with highs in the low 40s on Monday and then reaching even closer to the seasonal average on Tuesday, in the mid 40s.
