Chicago Weather: Accumulating Snow Possible as Winter Returns (And Not Just for Game of Thrones Fans)

Don't be fooled by Saturday's mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s because things will change quickly

Winter is returning to Chicago this weekend and not just for Game of Thrones fans.

The area could see some accumulating snow (no, not Jon Snow) this weekend as an approaching system brings moisture and colder air back into the forecast.

Don't be fooled by Saturday's mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s because things will change quickly.

Sunday will be overcast with periods of rain mixed with wet snow in store with high temperatures in the upper-30s and low-40s.

Exactly how much snow remains unclear as the system is still developing, according to Storm Team Meteorologist Andy Avalos.

Models vary widely in terms of predicted totals, but either way, it appears there is potential for some measurable snow in parts of the area, particularly on grassy locations.

But winter doesn't appear to be here to stay.

Monday looks to warm back into the 50s with temperatures rising into the 60s by Tuesday.
