Sunny Skies to Give Way to Rain Sunday Evening

After another cool evening, the Chicago area will see partly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures Sunday morning, but rain is in the forecast for later in the day.

Temperatures will warm to approximately 80 degrees on Sunday, with clouds slowly building in as the day progresses. Scattered showers are possible in the early afternoon hours, but late Sunday evening a more significant threat of rain will arrive as showers and occasional storms are expected to develop.

There is little threat of severe weather with the approaching rain, but it will stick around the area through the overnight hours and into Monday morning, potentially impacting the commute for motorists coming into the city.

That chance of scattered rain will linger in the forecast for Monday, as some showers and storms are expected to develop in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures are expected to reach the 80 degree mark on Monday and Tuesday.

High waves on Lake Michigan are also expected to subside throughout the day on Sunday, but residents are still encouraged to check swim conditions and restrictions before venturing into the water.

Those waves already have caused the cancellation of the swim portion of Sunday’s Chicago Triathlon, turning the race into a strictly running and bicycling affair.
