Family of Slain Chicago Police Commander to Receive Prestigious Honor on His Behalf

The family of slain Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer will accept the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation’s Award of Valor on his behalf at a dinner on Thursday night.

Bauer, who was gunned down in the line of duty earlier this year, will posthumously receive the award, the highest honor the CPD can bestow upon an officer. His wife Erin and his daughter Grace will accept the award at the annual Valor Awards dinner, which will take place at McCormick Place.

The awards dinner is an annual event hosted by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives and memories of fallen police officers.
