The Chicago Cubs received some bad news on Thursday, as pitcher Yu Darvish felt pain in his right arm during his bullpen session.

Darvish, who pitched in a minor league game on Monday, has been dealing with triceps tendinitis, and felt pain while throwing at Dodger Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

“It didn’t go that well,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. “He was not able to cut it loose.”

According to Maddon, Darvish will return to Chicago, and the team will consider the next steps forward in his recovery from the injury.

Darvish was placed on the disabled list in late May, and since then the team’s rotation has been dealing with challenges ever since, as Mike Montgomery has pitched brilliantly while Kyle Hendricks and Tyler Chatwood have struggled.
