Yu Darvish Dealing With Elbow Issue, Cubs Say

Darvish will be re-evaluated in three to five days

After travelling to Texas to meet with a physician for a second opinion, Chicago Cubs starter Yu Darvish has been diagnosed with a right elbow impingement.

Darvish, who has been on the disabled list since late May with right triceps tendinitis, felt pain in his arm during a bullpen session on Thursday, putting a halt to the recovery process from the injury.

According to the Cubs, Darvish received a cortisone shot in his right arm, and will be shut down from throwing for the next three to five days.

After that process, Darvish will be re-evaluated, and the team will have a better idea on when he’ll be able to return to the rotation this season.

Darvish has a 4.95 ERA and a 1-3 record so far this season for the Cubs, and has struggled in a big way since signing a six-year contract in free agency.
