The Chicago Cubs have announced the starting pitchers for their first two spring training games this weekend, and one is a familiar face trying to get back into the team’s good graces.

On Sunday, hurler Tyler Chatwood will get the start when the Cubs face the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale, manager Joe Maddon told media members this week.

Chatwood, who is coming off an abysmal 2018 season in which he went 4-6 with a 5.30 ERA and walked an astounding 95 batters in just 24 outings, is hoping that mechanical changes will help bring him more success in the coming year, and the team says they will use him as a starter in the early stages of spring training.

The Cubs also announced that pitcher Jen-Ho Tseng will start their Cactus League opener against the Milwaukee Brewers at Sloan Park in Mesa. The hurler has pitched in three career games with the Cubs, posting a less-than-stellar ERA of 9.00 and striking out 11 batters in eight innings of work.

Maddon says that he will begin using some of his regular starting pitchers late next week as Cactus League games begin in earnest.
