The 2012 London Olympics have ended, Team USA won gold in basketball and the United States crushed the competition in the overall medal count finishing with 104 (46 gold, 29 silver and 29 bronze).

- Twitter can be a great way for athletes to interact directly with their fans. But for a while Chicago’s biggest sports star avoided the service, until now. Derrick Rose is finally on Twitter. His account has been verified by the ever-popular messaging service which means it’s not a fake and his handle is – yep, you guessed it – @drose.
- Chicago Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf says he won’t rush D. Rose back as the All-Star recovers from surgery on his injured left knee. Reports put a timetable on Derrick’s return at anywhere from eight to 12 months, but Reinsdorf says he made a similar mistake when Michael Jordan broke his foot during the 1985-1996 season (which ultimately worked out), and he won’t do it again.
- When Rose does return to action, the biggest unknown is what kind of player he’ll be. Most expect him not to have the same kind of explosion he’s known for, but one thing that can improve is his outside shot which he’ll definitely need if he can’t get to the rim in the same fashion as before.
- It’s no secret that the 2012-2013 season won’t be the same for fans who won’t have the luxury of watching their biggest star try and lead them to a title. With a totally new roster, no one knows how good this squad can be, but have fans given up on the season before it even starts?
