For the second consecutive season, New Orleans Pelicans superstar and Chicago-native Anthony Davis won’t be able to play in front of his family and friends at the United Center on Monday night due to an injury. Davis suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand against the New York Knicks on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.

As a result, the 6-10 power forward – who was also the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft – will be sidelined indefinitely, ruining his chance to finally make his professional debut in Chicago. As a rookie last season, Davis was forced to skip the UC matchup with the Bulls due to a concussion on an errant elbow to the temple by teammate Austin Rivers.

Anthony Davis is quickly establishing himself as one of the best young power forwards in the league as he leads the Pelicans in scoring (20.7 ppg), rebounds (10.2 pg) and blocks (3.6 bpg) while shooting right at 50 percent from the field this season.
