Bond Denied for Mother Accused of Dropping Baby from Uptown High-Rise

According to investigators, the woman dropped her daughter from the 8th floor window shortly after giving birth causing the child's death

Bond was denied Saturday for a 19-year-old woman who police say gave birth to a girl whom she then dropped to her death from the 8th floor window of an Uptown neighborhood high-rise Wednesday night.

Mubashra Uddin, 19, was arrested and charged on Friday in connection to the death of her newborn daughter who was found lying outside on the 800 block of W. Eastwood Ave.

According to investigators, Uddin dropped her daughter from the 8th floor window shortly after giving birth causing the child's death.

A passerby discovered the baby while heading to the Eastwood Shores apartment complex at approximately 11:20 p.m., according to police.

The man initially thought the baby wasn’t real and told the apartment building’s security guard he thought his mind was playing tricks on him – but police found a baby who had been left out in the cold.

The infant was rushed to Weiss Memorial Hospital in critical condition, just one block from where she was discovered, police said. Soon after, she was pronounced dead.

The baby died of multiple blunt force injuries and her death was ruled a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said Thursday.
