Blago Note to Lou Piniella: “Have You Tried …”

Tribune unveils 2007 message from then-governor and forever Cubs fan

Apparently not one to bite his tongue, shy away from expressing his opinion, former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, known to be an avid Cubs fan, took pen in hand to script a message to Cubs manager Lou Piniella.

The moment came during one tough stretch at the end of May 2007. The Cubs had just lost to the Florida Marlins 9-0, the team's eighth loss in the last 10 games.

"Have you thought of batting Soriano third?" the then-governor asked the struggling manager.

As the Chicago Tribune points out, however, "Two years later, Piniella is still managing the Cubs and Blagojevich was ousted as the manager of the State of Illinois in a wide-ranging corruption scandal."

Stick to what you know, may be the best advise here, but don't get caught.
