The Chicago Blackhawks are eagerly trying to add scoring punch to their lineup, and they added a prospect to their system on Sunday morning as they agreed to a three-year deal with Alexandre Fortin.

Fortin, who joined the Blackhawks during their Prospect Camp earlier this year and has been a standout in the early stages of training camp, notched 43 points in 54 games with the QMJHL’s Rouyn-Horanda Huskies last season. He scored 19 goals in those games, and scored four more during the postseason.

The Blackhawks signed Fortin as they’re looking to add scoring depth to their roster after the departures of players like Teuvo Teravainen during the offseason.

It’s unlikely that Fortin will make the team’s NHL roster coming out of training camp, but the fact that they signed him to an entry-level contract seems to indicate that the team thinks highly of his chances to make the team at some point in the near future.
