The Chicago Blackhawks added another winger to their already jam-packed roster Wednesday afternoon when they agreed to a one-year contract with Joakim Nordstrom.

Nordstrom, who was drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, has bounced back and forth between the team’s NHL roster and their AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs for several seasons. He did see some limited time last season with the Hawks, including three playoff games. He has played a total of 54 regular season games for Chicago.

Nordstrom likely won’t be guaranteed a playoff spot when the Blackhawks open up training camp later this month, competing with players like Marko Dano, Corey Tropp and Andrew Desjardins for playing time. He could also find extra pressure from players like Mark McNeill, who is looking to make the jump up to the NHL for the first time.
