Before their game against the Washington Capitals Saturday, the Chicago Blackhawks honored fallen Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer.
Bauer, who was laid to rest after an emotional funeral Saturday, was honored by the team as they hung a jersey in their dressing room before the contest:
Several Blackhawks players, including Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith, attended Bauer's wake on Friday afternoon to pay their respects.
The Chicago police department also thanked the Blackhawks for the tribute on social media on Saturday evening.
Officers from neighboring districts are covering shifts in the 18th District for 24 hours so every officer could attend Bauer's funeral on Saturday morning.
