A motorcycle struck a man and a woman as they were crossing Lake Shore Drive Monday night near Grant Park, killing the woman and sending both the man and the motorcyclist to the hospital in serious condition, police said.
About 10:25 p.m., the motorcycle rode between stopped cars in the 700 block of South Lake Shore Drive and struck the man and woman as they were crossing the street, according to Chicago Police.
The woman, 25, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
The man was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said. His exact age was not known.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man, was also injured in the crash and taken in serious condition to Northwestern, police said. He has been taken into custody and charges were pending early Tuesday.
As of about 1 a.m., Lake Shore Drive was shut down between Jackson and Balbo while the police Major Accidents Investigation Unit investigates the crash.
