Prosecutors have charged a northern Illinois man with sexually abusing five children as young as 3 years old at a home daycare operated by his wife.
The Winnebago County State's Attorney Office has charged David Seaton, 51, of Winnebago with 11 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse and one count of predatory criminal sexual assault.
Seaton originally was charged Jan. 12 with a single count of aggravated sex abuse of a 3-year-old child enrolled in his wife's daycare. Since then, four more children have been identified as victims by Winnebago County Sheriff's Police detectives and prosecutors.
The ages of the other victims were not released and it was unknown whether they all were enrolled in the daycare.
The additional charges were filed this week.
Seaton's wife is not suspected of criminal activity and was allowed to continue operating her daycare under the direction of a Department of Children and Family Services safety plan, the Rockford Register Star reported. Her daycare is located in a residential subdivision west of Rockford and near the village of Winnebago.
A message seeking comment from Seaton's public defender on Thursday was not immediately returned.

Seaton is being held in the Winnebago County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
