Was Your Favorite Starbucks Item Unavailable This Weekend? Here's Why

If you went to Starbucks in the Chicago area sometime this Labor Day weekend and found that a menu item was not available, you might not have been the only one.

According to a Starbucks spokeswoman, it was a misallocation issue in the area where some orders to select stores either “received too much or too little” as they often shift around if one store lacks some menu items.

Some local Starbucks displayed signs that read "we are currently experiencing outages of some of our food and beverage items. We apologize for the inconvenience."

NBC 5 asked if there was a specific reason as to why this occurred or if it has happened before and the company’s spokeswoman said they were unsure.

“The local team is looking to rebalance it soon,” she said, however no expected time range as to how soon they would restock, was provided.

No further information was provided on the matter.
