Suburban Couple Vacationing in Florida Killed in Hit-and-Run

A suburban Chicago couple is dead after being hit by a car while on vacation in Clearwater, Florida.

Fifty-one-year-old Viola Flores and 62-year-old John Berg lived in northwest suburban Lake in the Hills, according to police.

They were crossing an intersection just after 8 p.m. Sunday when a silver Mercedes SUV slammed into the two and proceeded to drive off, investigators told NBC affiliate WFLA.

Paramedics rushed both victims to a local hospital, WFLA reports, where they were later pronounced dead.

As of Tuesday morning, no arrests had been made in their hit-and-run deaths.

Investigators spent hours at the scene gathering evidence that they hope can lead them to the driver behind the fatal crash.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call (727) 562-4242.
