Kyle Schwarber Moves Up in Cubs Batting Order for Game 6

With Kyle Schwarber's return to the lineup on Tuesday night, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon has opted to move him up in the batting order for Game 6 of the World Series

With Kyle Schwarber coming back into the lineup for Game 6 of the World Series, there were some questions about where the slugger would bat, and Anthony Rizzo provided the answer on Tuesday afternoon.

Doing an interview with the ESPN 1000 show “Kap and Company,” Rizzo revealed that Schwarber will bat second for the Cubs as they try to stay alive in the World Series against the Cleveland Indians.

Schwarber, who made a miraculous recovery from knee surgery to even make the roster for the Cubs in the World Series, batted fifth in both games in Cleveland earlier in the series, picking up two RBI in the team’s Game 2 win.

With Schwarber’s promotion to the second spot, Kris Bryant will drop down to third, and Rizzo will bat in the clean-up spot. Ben Zobrist will bat fifth, according to Rizzo.

The logic behind Maddon’s move is simple: with Josh Tomlin, a pitcher who gave up 36 home runs during the regular season, on the hill, Maddon wanted to get Schwarber multiple at-bats against the hurler in an attempt to get the offense going early as the Cubs try to once again fend off elimination in the postseason.
