Man Charged with Punching Cop at Protest

The protest was mostly peaceful, police say

An Alabama man accused of punching a Chicago police officer at a downtown protest Tuesday is scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.
 
Christopher Friday, 25, of Mobile, Ala., faces one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer.

Police said Friday attacked an officer outside the Art Institute Monday during a protest attended by thousands upset about high unemployment and the housing crisis.
 
Police described the protest as mostly peaceful despite having to write 24 municipal citations for being in the roadway.
