Police Search for Missing 5-Year-Old Girl, Grandmother

Police on Sunday are searching for a 5-year-old girl and her grandmother after they disappeared on the South Side on Saturday, police said.

The girl, Akira Lowe, was last seen with her 58-year-old grandmother Antionetta Anderson on Saturday in the 8200 block of South Racine Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, according to missing persons alerts issued by police.

Police described Akira as 3-foot-2, 35 pounds and black with a light complexion. She has brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black and pink coat and black boots, the alert said.

Anderson was described as 5-foot-2, 150 pounds and black with a medium complexion. She has brown eyes and black hair, the alert said, and she was last seen wearing a burgundy coat, blue jeans and black gym shoes.
