Person Fatally Shot by Homewood Police

Police responding to a call of a disturbance at an apartment building in south suburban Homewood Sunday morning fatally shot someone who confronted them.

Homewood police responded about 6:45 a.m. to a call of a disturbance at a third-floor unit of an apartment building in the 900 block of Olive Road, a statement form police said.

When officers arrived there they were confronted by an occupant of that unit, resulting in that person being shot, fatally, by police, the statement said.

Police were not releasing the identity of that person as of about noon.

The scene was turned over to the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit for processing and further investigation.

The Cook County Public Integrity Task Force also responded and will be conducting an independent review of the incident, Homewood police said.
