Middle School Girls Charged With Cyber-Bullying

Cops: Teens set up fake Facebook account

Two Park Ridge teens face harassment charges for allegedly cyber bullying a classmate.

Police say the 13- and 14-year-old girls set up a fake Facebook account and posted  derogatory comments about another 13-year-old girl, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The teens then sent out friend requests to about 80 classmates from Emerson Middle School, according to police.

Park Ridge police tell the Chicago Sun-Times they began an investigation after they were contacted by the  father of the young victim.

Detectives then interviewed about 10 students from the school before identifing the two girls who allegedly set up the page, the Sun-Times Reports.

Both teens were charged under a new local ordinance, and were scheduled to appear before the Park Ridge peer jury, according to the newspaper.
