Smooth Criminals Steal Top Cop's TV

Said top cop oversees the detective division. Oops.

Third cop's the charm?

A pair of brazen burglars yesterday ransacked the home of Chicago’s No. 3 cop, Police Deputy Superintendent Steve Peterson, making off with Peterson's 50-inch flat screen television and a .357 magnum, according to Chicago Breaking News.

Peterson also heads up the bureau of investigative services and oversees the detective division, which is hard at work on the case.

In a larcenous twist of irony, the investigators believe the thieves broke into the home during the day while Peterson was at work defending the city from thieves.

Cops are trying to link this burglary to a string of similar crimes near Peterson's Northwest side home.

This particular crime, however, seems to be getting all the attention.
