Morton Grove Woman Charged With Filing False Police Report After Claiming to be Stabbed, Robbed

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with filing a false police report after she told officials she had been robbed and stabbed Sunday night in Morton Grove.

Wendy Barron, 28, of the village of Golf told police she was driving in the area of Lehigh Avenue and Beckwith Road, in Morton Grove, around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when she pulled over for another driver who flashed his lights at her and told her she had a flight tire, Morton Grove Police Cmdr. Paul Yaras said.

The woman told police the man then robbed her, stabbed her, and ran away with an undisclosed amount of her cash, officials said.

After further investigation, the Morton Grove Police department determined the woman’s claims did not actually occur, according to a statement by police released Wednesday evening.

Barron has been charged with disorderly conduct and filing a false police report.

The incident has been classified as unfounded, police said.

No further information as to why the woman filed a false report has been released.
