IIHS Names 82 Vehicles as Top Safety Picks for 2017

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded 82 new vehicles as the top safety picks for 2017. 

Of those 82 vehicles chosed, 38 earned the even higher ranking of “Top Safety Pick+” for their impressive ratings in five crash-test evaluations. They also were selected for having effective crash-preventing features, such as automatic braking systems and headights that were rated at least acceptable. 

Toyota led all automakers with nine new models making the list. Honda had five.
