A restaurant in Spring Grove was filled with friends, loved ones and even people who had never met the fallen Fox Lake Officer. However, they all came together to help raise money for Lt. Joe Gliniewicz’s family.
Money from raffle items and a silent auction with Chicago sports memorabilia at KC's Cabin will go to his wife, Melodie, and her four grieving sons.
The community rallied to support the family in their time of mourning.
“It’s saddens my heart to know that this guy lost his life so carelessly,” one woman at the event said. “For anyone to lose a love one we should be there to support.”
Gliniewicz’s son expressed his gratitude to the community.
“The love and support that all of you are showing us right now is incredible,” D.J. Gliniewicz said. “I don’t think I have seen the community itself this strong before.”
The Fox Lake officer was shot dead on Sept. 1 in the village northwest of Chicago.
