Two Firefighters Injured in Fire at Resurrection Medical Center

The fire was reported around 9:30 p.m., according to the police department’s news affairs

Two firefighters suffered injuries while responding to a multi-alarm fire at Resurrection Medical Center on the Northwest Side Thursday evening, police said.

Fire Media Affairs reported firefighters were alerted at 9 :36 p.m. to the fire at 7435 W. Talcott Ave., which was in the hospital's chapel on the second floor.

In trying to get control over the flames, firefighters escalated the fire to a 3-11 alarm bringing extra responders to the scene, said a Fire Media Affairs spokesperson.

Patients on the second and third floor of the building were evacuated. No patients were injured, the hospital reported.

The two firefighters who sustained injuries were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

They are both in good condition, according to the fire department.
