More Animal Abuse Charges for Deer Park Woman

Woman from Deer Park is charged with additional counts of aggravated cruelty to animals

A woman from the Northwest Suburbs faces additional charges for animal abuse.

A Lake County grand jury approved new counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and animal torture against 48-year-old Diane Eldrup, after the bodies of two more dogs were found in her house, according to the Daily Herald.

Eldrup was arrested on Dec. 17 after police found 20 dead dogs and six more malnourished animals at her "Muddy Paws Dog Rescue" animal shelter in Deer Park.

Eldrup was released on a $25,000 bond following her arrest, according to the Daily Herald.

If convicted of animal torture, she could face five years in prison and up to three years for aggravated animal cruelty.

Eldrup is scheduled for another court appearance on March 28.
