Chicago's Italians Reach Out After Earthquake

Relief fund taking donations

Nadia Luciani feels helpless. Her family lives in the earthquake stricken Abruzzo region of Italy. She moved to Chicago a year and a half ago. She's spent the last 12 hours on the phone and on Facebook trying to communicate with her loved ones.

The office of the Italian Consul General has been bombarded with calls and e-mails from people trying to help.

There are some 800,000 Italian and Italian-Americans living in the Chicago area.

We'll have more on Nadia Luciana's story, the Italian Consul General, and reaction from the city's Little Italy neighborhood at 5.
