Mike Magee takes his days off from playing for the Chicago Fire seriously… or not so seriously.

In a soccer spoof of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” Magee stars in a viral MLS video called “Mike Magee’s Day Off.”

The short three-minute film, described as “one player’s struggle to take it easy,” has the soccer star pretending to be too sick to practice, then continues with the sporty spin-off of the “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” trailer.

The classic 80’s film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” was directed by John Hughes and starred Matthew Broderick as a high schooler who skips school to experience adventures in the city of Chicago.

The copycat trailer features the MLS MVP in the role of Ferris Bueller, along with U.S. Women’s star Sydney Leroux as Magee’s girlfriend, U.S. Men’s defender Omar Gonzalez as his best friend and U.S. Women’s goalkeeper Hope Solo as Magee’s sister. Several other athletes and non-athletes make cameos in the film.
