Woman Pleas for Answers After Mother Severely Injured in Hit-And-Run

A daughter is desperate for answers after he mother, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Chicago last month.

“She told me she got off the bus and got hit by a car,” she said.

Lashondra Graves says she has only been able to gather bits and pieces regarding a hit-and-run incident on one of the busiest intersections that sent her mother straight to the hospital on Nov. 25.

Police say she was crossing the street near 87th Street and State.

Now, 58-year-old Marian Graves remains hospitalized at the University of Chicago with a shattered leg and arm.

“She told me... (she) could not push the cars away and she thought she was going to die," the daughter expressed.

Lashondra says her mother already had a tough life dealing with a mental illness and that should not be an excuse for someone to get away with it.

Now, she is pleading any possible witnesses to step forward and reach out with information that could give her some insight as to what exactly happened that day.

“It’s impossible to have an accident that big, that involved a pedestrian…and no one saw anything?” she said.
