A Carpentersville mother recently won a quarter of a million dollars in the Illinois Lottery.
Ginger McGee, a mother of four, said she plays a $250,000 Crossword ticket two or three times a week, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery. She loves crossword puzzles and often buys books of them at the grocery store.
She used her lucky coin, a dime with her birth year — 1971 — on it, to scratch the winning ticket.
“When I realized that I won a quarter of a million dollars, I started jumping up and down and yelling like crazy!” McGee said in the press release.
She plans to use the winnings to buy a house and a reliable second-hand car.
McGee bought the winning ticket at a Shell gas station located at 97 S. Kennedy Dr. in Carpentersville. The store was presented with a $2,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
