Boy, 16, Shot to Death in Humboldt Park Identified

A 16-year-old boy found shot to death in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side Tuesday night has been identified.

Jorge Ruiz was found shot several times in an alley in the 1600 block of North Keeler about 10:10 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Ruiz, who lived a block away in the 1700 block of North Keeler, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Wednesday ruled his death a homicide.

A police source said the teen was a documented gang member.
