The CTA was notified of minor track damage on the northbound Blue Line, approaching the Montrose station, officials said about 4:30 p.m.
Northbound and southbound trains were single-tracking through the area between Jefferson Park and Addison, the CTA said, in addition to bus shuttles operating in the area.
It was unclear if the damage done to the tracks was weather related or not.
Many people tweeted their frustrations from cramped cars that reportedly stood still between stations for unpredictable stretches of time.
