Arlington Heights Couple Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

Police say they believe the incident was domestic

An Arlington Heights husband and wife were found shot to death Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Police discovered the bodies of Angelita James, 56, and her husband, Roger James, 48, of the 900 block of East Shady Way in their home, according to the Daily Herald. The woman's son reported she hadn't shown up for work and couldn't be reached by phone.

The couple was found dead from gunshot wounds in a bedroom in their home, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office told the Chicago Tribune Angelita James was shot in the face and her husband died of a self-inflicted wound. Police said the deaths apparently were domestic.

Roger James, a veteran of the Gulf Wars and commander of the Des Plaines American Legion Post 36, was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and taking medication, a friend of his told the Daily Herald.

Neighbors and friends said they were shocked by the incident.

Autopsies are scheduled for Thursday.
