Five people are in critical condition after a car crash in the Pilsen neighborhood shortly after midnight early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Damen and 18th Street in the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago's West Side. At 12:10 a.m., a Cadillac escalade was traveling northbound when a Nissan Altima ran a red light, police say.
The vehicles collided and five people were transported in critical condition to area hospitals, three to Cook County Hospital and 2 to Mt. Sinai Hospital, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The identity of the injured has not been released, and police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
