Toddler Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle on South Side: Cops

A young child has died after he was struck by a vehicle in the West Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side Thursday evening, police said. 

The boy was hit about 5:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Damen, according to Chicago Police. Paramedics took him to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was in critical condition. Police later said the child died of his injuries. 

Authorities say the boy was 3 years old, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the child as 2-year-old Kiare Woods. 

A woman was also injured in the crash, police said.
