Two schools buses were involved in an accident Friday morning on the Stevenson Expressway, sending four children to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Illinois State Police said a minor crash involving two buses occurred just before 10:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-55, just north of Route 83 near Burr Ridge.
Four children were taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, while the remainder of the children on the bus were transferred to another bus for transport off the expressway, police said.
All southbound lanes of I-55 are open, and tow trucks are en route to move the disabled buses off the expressway. There were no reports of shots fired.
